I only questioned this because I can't ever remember hearing it used, and because it is so bulky, I'm wondering if there is a more common way to say this. So I checked on spanishdict which only confued matters; it lists "reunirse con" for meeting by arrangement, but then lists "quedar con alguien" for "to arrange to meet somebody", and doesn't even reference the two ways given by my book.
